Certificate In Pharmacy

  • Pharmacy covers fundamental Pharmacy Education including the application of chemistry in the pharma industry, theoretical & practical concepts of biochemistry, pharmacology and toxicology. The course enables the students to study about different chemical salts, their application and uses in medicine. The programme holds fine significance in the pharmaceutical industry.

 

  • Diploma In Clinical Medicine & Community Health is designed in order to provide health care that will integrate curative and preventive health care thus comprising of both theoretical and practical aspects.

 

  • Medical Laboratoryis a branch of science that deals with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases using clinical laboratory tests. This involves analysis of the body fluids, including tissues and blood. Medical Laboratory Technologists perform most of their tasks such as the preparation of slides human tissues or other specimens, using laboratory equipment.

They also carry out tasks such as blood tests and blood typing. While studying this course, candidates are taught about diseases and the use of medical laboratory equipment in performing clinical tests.

 

Curriculum Guiding Training of Learners:

Students are trained using a competency-based education curriculum, focusing on 70% practical and 30% theory. Competencies include Microbiology, Parasitology, Clinical Chemistry, Haematology, Immunohaematology, Histopathology, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Socio-Psychology, Primary Health Care, ICT, General Laboratory Methods, Laboratory Management, Entrepreneurship, First Aid, Research Method, Counseling, Laboratory Management, and Pharmacology.

Assignments, Practical Work, Research Projects, directed self-study, active learning, and attachments are utilized to build student competencies.

 

  • Medical Records & Health informaticsis designed to provide students with relevant knowledge and skills that will enable them to prepare and manage medical records and improve health service delivery.

A healthy nation is a wealthy nation. But for the nation to be healthy, a functional health service delivery system and well-trained health service workers are a prerequisite.

 

Direct Entry Requirements

  • UCE with at least 5 passes in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English.
  • UACE with at least 1 principal pass in either Biology or Chemistry and a subsidiary pass from the other.

Indirect Entry Requirements

  • A Certificate in any of these health related disciplines.
  • Nursing/Midwifery,
  • Environmental Health Sciences
  • Medical Laboratory Techniques.
